Zurich
Baugenossenschaft für neuzeitliches Wohnen (bgnzwo) is replacing the existing 86 flats in the 1950s Zwischenbächen housing estate in Zurich with 157 modern flats built to a high cooperative standard. The new residential complex will be pioneering in terms of economic efficiency, ecology and social sustainability.
The overall concept with four angled building structures maximises the open space between the houses, which will be transformed into a varied, ecologically valuable ‘residential park’ thanks to the planned outdoor space design.
In addition to the architectural quality requirements, the requirements of the 2000-watt society are achieved through high savings in construction and operation. In terms of building technology, the aim is to achieve an optimum level of technology with maximum energy efficiency and sustainability, as well as economical operation and maintenance. The district heating network of ewz will provide heating for the development, while the general electricity will be covered by photovoltaic systems on the roofs.
The new replacement building will be constructed in two phases.
