The new SAW (Stiftung Alterswohnungen der Stadt Zürich) building at the Werdhölzli site is characterised by an ensemble consisting of a linear high-rise building and a four-storey annex.

A total of 93 retirement flats are planned for the project. These cover a range of flats from 1.5 to 3.0 apartments. In the main building, there are 76 residential units on 9 upper floors, accessed by two- and three-storeys, which allow a two-sided view from the staggered upper floors into the Limmat area. In the adjoining building, an inner corridor provides access to 5 residential units on each of the three upper floors, which are grouped around a shared kitchen-living room and are primarily orientated towards the shared garden space. On the ground floor, two garden flats complete the cluster house.

The outdoor space of the project refers to the nearby Limmat river and translates the existing space into an abstract meadow landscape, divided into two areas: The meadow garden on the north side and the front zone on the south/west side.
